Data migration from QBO to Desktop version- Know the steps to avoid issues

Nowadays, most of the business owners look for the affordable software for their corporate solutions. To manage the task of accounting, QuickBooks is an acceptable option for the business owners. The major two versions of QuickBooks are- desktop and online versions. Though many entrepreneurs use the online version, the Desktop edition has also user-friendly interface with lots of useful features.

There is one notable feature that differentiates online edition from desktop versions. QuickBooks Desktop provides Accountants’ Copy, and thus, as a user, you will be capable of posting anything, while your accountant is dealing with a file. However, QBO never offers this option. So, if you have imported a downloaded QuickBooks file on the online platform, all your digital data gets lost before import.

In many cases, you may need to transfer your files from QBO to Desktop version. Especially, the company owners, who like to close their business for any reason, need to get their important files in QuickBooks Desktop software version.

After the process of exporting folders to your desktop version software, you can find a file that is to be opened within ten days. But, the issue is that you may find issues during this process. All the documents cannot get exported, or you can also face other intricacies.

What should you check before starting the transfer process?

To avoid any error message, you need to check out if you have fulfilled all the requirements.

  • Use QBO, available in USA version
  • You should be an authorized accountant or business administrator
  • The browser version- IE 10 (It should not be 64-bit IE)- While you try to use this version, you may get an error message.
  • Another thing that you need is ActiveX. Install it before starting the export process.

Preparing your files for the transfer process–

  • Get into the interface of QBO version
  • If you hit Gear-like icon, you can choose the option- Export Data
  • Go to Start option
  • Select files for transfer
  • Find data source and review the change of data
  • Type the contact details
  • Then, click on Continue and Close

These are the steps for the compilation of data. To accomplish the task, you have to follow more instructions-

  • On the data transfer page of QBO, you can get the option Continue Download.
  • Always keep the Desktop version open
  • You will find the Download button
  • You can watch a pop-up box, and it allows you in saving your business file. Choose the location for storage of files. It is better not to alter the present file name. Save it to Windows version desktop
  • After this downloading process is over, you have to hit on the option- Convert Now.
  • Another pop-up box comes up on your screen. Now, you can choose a file name for storing it in the local directory. In many cases, the users, who use other directories for storing files, find a failure in the process of conversion.

So, if you can follow these steps transferring files to Desktop version from QBO, you will face no error message. Do not try to skip any of the important steps so that you may smoothly accomplish the process. You can also look for online assistance from the active QuickBooks team.
